Can we get an apology?

Posted in Poker Related on September 30th, 2008 by Damn Ringer

May 15th.

That was the day i was s excited about back in the beginning of the summer! I would have the 3-bet stat i was always dreaming of to go with a smoother running version of pokertracker 2. This program I speak of would be the disaster that was PokerTracker 3. It is now September 30th and there’s a working version of the commerical PokerTracker 3. Roughly 135 days after i thought i was getting my awesome product, it actually showed up.

I’ve been quite patient i think and not too upset about the whole thing. Still, I haven’t received a discount, or even an apology via e-mail. I think those of us that signed up and paid for the product in the pre-release are all owed a personal apology. I don’t really care about the money because as always, the software will pay for itself. I just think the principle of the thing is absurd.

I am happy with how they solved the problem. The database and HUD run smooth, but honestly how did it take that long? I know their website says they are sorry. All the forums are ‘its our bad’. But this just isn’t acceptable for a software release. They are going to pay for it in the people that switched to HEM and got fed up. I just think all the people who stayed loyal to PT3 deserve some love from the PT3 crew.

Now that its functional, maybe they will start added some new features.

Here’s my wishlist at the moment:

  • An Allin Luck Graph – this is always key
  • Optimal Stats for player – this would use the allin luck graph to find at what vpip/pfr/af the player is up the most with at each different stake/game. Using each session and its numbers as bearing.
  • PokerTracker Omaha – i mean come on.
  • 3-bet from LP % – would be very useful for finding players abusing their position
  • 3-bet from blinds % – would be awesome for figuring out which players are most prone to 3-bet re-steal against a LP raise
  • Average 3-bet size – would be helpful for finding any discrepencies
  • Average 4-bet size – would be much more helpful than 3-bet size as 4-bet sizes tend to not be standardized by alot of regs are usually based on strength of hand.

that’s all i can think of now. Come on PT3… lets get the train moving.

What sort of Ringering is this?!

What’s happenin guys?

Sorry about not getting to this blog more often but i’ll do what i can. I finally played a significant number of hands this weekend. I played about 3k hands bringing my monthly total of hands to around 16k. As you can see, i really haven’t played as much as i should. I just haven’t had the motivation and I think that’s pretty typical to hit a burnout moment. I am still burned out about Full ring. I decided to take a different route, a route I haven’t taken in ages. And its worked an absolute wonder with my moral and thirst for the game.

A little history about me. I have always played full ring since i started playing. I have never been good at anything but full ring for the most part. There are 2 exceptions to this. I am very good at HU omaha and I am very good at deep stack 6-max games. I made a pretty big name for myself about 2 years ago playing .15/.30deep stack tables. I tore through those tables and was making an absurd hourly rate for $60 buyin. I decided to give those days another shot this weekend because honestly i was kinda fed up with the same shit at full ring, and wanted to be an ‘unknown’ again. I decided to give it a shot at 100nl deep 6-max tables. That’s $200 buyin with .50/1 blinds. I made $1500 in the first 2k hands… and didn’t run particularly well. Wow, i got people to just tilt money to me. It looks like my 6-max game has severely improved since i last played there, aka when i was playing 25nl.

I am very good in 3-bet pots and much better at bet sizing and tilt control. I have been just tearing these tables up. I think i love 6-max. I will continue to give 6-max deep tables a shot and see if i can climb the ladder there like i did back in the day for full ring. I think i’ve reached the top of my full ring capabilities. I can’t seem to beat 5/10nl on a regular basis and recently i’ve been having trouble with the full tilt 2/4nl games.

I am completely rekindled. I find that challenge i had some long ago and wanna try it again! Anyways, my month as you might imagine took a shot up. I’m up currently this month around 3k with rakeback considered, which is pretty good considering i was down money like a week ago.

A 6-max ringer? I never thought i’d see the day. Lets give this a go.

On a sidenote, I am scared shitless of the economy. Our company has made 2 massive layoffs and it would appear more are on the way. I wouldn’t be surprised if i have to play poker professional not by choice. Here’s to hoping i get to keep my job. Later guys.

Woof.

Well my month has been a fun one in every department but poker. I find that I lose motivation to play when i’m running poorly and that’s sort of what’s happened. I’ve played 12k hands this month and am currently down $282. I just can’t seem to run into any good spots recently.
I have been working as per usual as well. I actually am really glad i have work to fall back on. When i’m running a bad month, i can’t say enough good things about keeping sane through work. I now am very glad i didn’t get laid off when my company had to make cuts. I now think i would go look for another job or just move off to the carribean.

As ridiculous as that may sound, I am actually considering it. I think just doing something like that and changing locations would be awesome. Its something i feel like i’d love to do, just up and move somewhere else for a few years. Its in the back of my mind but i don’t know how i would pull the trigger. Something drastic would have to happen, like getting fired or following the love of my life out there. Which i don’t really see either happening, in the forseeable future.

Anyways, sorry i haven’t updated this, but there’s not really anything good going on poker related in my life. I’ve been going to the gym alot and doing alot of stuff with football. I already feel myself getting more muscular and in another few months i should start seeing some decent results. That’s really all i got. I’ll let you guys know when things start to turn around with poker.

I fell off the face of the earth!

My Bad guys. Let me say i’ll try not to let this happen again.

Alright so here’s the quick run down of how my life has been. I have been doing WAY too much stuff with fantasy football… DONT JOIN MORE THAN 3 LEAGUES! I figured, ‘hey i play 12 tables of poker at one time what is 5 fantasy football leagues’. Yeah its shitty. Its not as fun and i am losing track and getting tired of it already and its only week one! I was going to post my fantasy football picks but i slept on it and now i’d just sound ridiculous if i said i saw eddie royal coming a mile away or that i think thomas jones has a 1200 yard season. So let me say, coming from Virginia Tech where i watched eddie play for 3 years, i picked him up in a few of my fantasy drafts and well after last nights performance, he looks like a hybrid of TO and Donte Stallworth! This kid well exceeded my expectations.
I have been working out alot and having little time for poker. I for some reason just am not motivated to play after last month and the beginning of this month. I moved up to 400nl and have found myself tilting in a few spots and just getting in ugly places. I am finding myself expecting to make profit and that’s really not the right kind of mentality on a day to day basis. So i need to do some mental work at the moment but honestly i’m just not motivated to do so. I go through times where i just don’t care too much about poker and this is one of those times.

My august was ugly! I stayed at 1/2nl the entire time and only turned about $2500 in profit! That’s less than i made in the first 6 days of playing 1/2nl in august! So yeah really ugly month and really annoying end of the month. Only turning a $3500 month is really humbling too. That’s a month at 100nl and I just had one at 200nl where i am significantly better than competition. Anyways, I am not happy about that poker result and am going to keep playing at 200nl and 400nl when the games are good. The 400nl games are just horrid as of late. I tore up 400nl about 3 months ago and let me tell ya those games are dry on full tilt! I am shooting for a 6k month this month, but my month has already started horribly. I’m down 1100 so far in september mainly due to some poor 2/4 sessions and some good 1/2 sessions. So lets turn that around. I’m due for a big time upswing, as i am getting killed recently.

I have been on the house hunt and have found a few awesome places i want to get. I am kinda still deciding what i like, but i think i’m going to get a pretty sweet townhouse! Not being about to report your poker earnings is kind of a bitch as i can only get approved for a 250k loan on my salary currently which is RIDICULOUS! How they can give me a guy who makes like 3k/month after taxes a $1800/mo mortgage payment?! That seems absurd. If i didn’t have any other income, i absolutely wouldn’t be able to get a 250k house.

Alright, that’s all i got. I’ll try to update this like the days of old. I will try to make time during the night before i sleep to write a quick update. Later guys.
